Big Bible Science

Huge apologies - our blogging really dropped off last year, so our New Year's resolution should definitely be to improve it! We are thankful that as a shop we were maintained throughout 2020 despite periods of closure during the lockdowns. 2021 has also had a busy start even though we are closed again and we are grateful for your continuing support.

We are kicking off the new year with a fantastic offer on some science books - whether you have homeschooled for years or are just temporarily engaged in it, these books will really capture the imagination and add a Biblical perspective to a huge range of scientific topics. From electricity to the digestive system, symbiosis to heat capacity, kinetic energy to animal classification, the books explain scientific concepts through simple experiments, activities and real-life applications.

2020 was a big reminder to us all that plans can be made but they will only come to pass 'if the Lord will'. We missed out on taking bookstalls around the country when we usually enjoy catching up with many of our customers in person. This new year we are cautiously and prayerfully hopeful that we can look forward to getting back out on the road and catching up with many of you before the end of the year. In the meantime, we will enjoy keeping in touch by phone or email, or via our social media channels; Facebook, Instagram or Twitter

2000 years of Christ's Power - Offer Ending Soon

The long awaited 4th volume in the '2000 Years of Christ's Power' series is now available.  It covers the period 1560-1740: an era of great struggles, of war and theological controversy when there was conflict between traditions, and conflict within traditions. Dr Nick Needham, lecturer in Church History at Highland Theological College in Dingwall, covers Germany, England and Scotland, as well as issues affecting the Reformed Faith, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. Quite an assortment!

Don't miss out on this great offer - only available until the end of February

We are planning a FLASH sale on the day so that our customers further afield won't miss out on the bargains.  Full details are yet to be confirmed, but I can let you into the secret that children's books will be on a 3 for 2 offer.  Keep an eye on our facebook page for more details, or if you get our emails make sure you are reading them!

Slashing Prices!

Slashing Prices, Big Deals, Great Offers, Price Cutting, Saving you Money - we may not be a supermarket, but whatever you want to call it, we've done it!  All our books published by Evangelical Press, Carey Publications and Grace Publications have been reduced by up to 20%.  Permanently.  Yes, that even includes their newest titles like John Blanchard's Major Points from the Minor Prophets.
Enjoy.

Your Caption Please!

Storeroom or children's indoor gym? The answer is both! For a while at least, before we sent this 19 box consignment out to America. It was a little cramped in there to say the least, awkward for us, but an excellent opportunity for early honing of climbing skills for Euan and Alex. I only wished I was their size...I wouldn't have to dream of a trip to the Black Cuillin of Skye...
Back to reality. The books have now been shipped and last heard of en route in Chicago. We have dusted ourselves down and started back on regular duties (like blogging!)
This week we are hosting two evenings of special spring sales. A 3 for 2 promotion is at the core of this, which will also extend through to the end of April. If you don't receive one of our email notifications soon, then put 'subscribe' in the subject line of an email and send it to lorna@christianbookshopossett.co.uk
She will be happy to send you the details of titles on the 3 for 2 deal. Unfortunately you won't be able to have 3 for 2 on the massive array of cakes which have been made this week unless you turn up at 7pm'ish on Thursday 26th. They just don't retain their quality after being handled by Royal Mail.

Overtime Reflections

Slogging doesn't make for blogging! Hence the lack of them during our Special Sale week last week. I know I've used a negative word, but it rhymes better than the others, and certainly we had a full programme. Our generous sell-off was noticed! I felt the evening opening times were a fair success. Two local pastors in particular did a bit of arm twisting, and so got a few to turn out. Monday's weather was so bad that this was amazing in itself. I don't think we could sustain 7pm - 10pm every week: it isn't easy on the family, and I do far too much washing up of customers' coffee cups! However more creative thought needs to be given to the issue of being open for people at the time when they want to shop...
