I'm afraid it's time for us to take a little break. We're heading off to Wales for a few days next week & will be having a 'technical time out' (or as I saw on BBC Online today a 'digital detox' or 'personal reboot'!). Please be assured that we have a wonderful army of helpers keeping the shop open for us (9:30am-5:00pm) who will be happy to help you out in person or by phone. We plan to be back in harness after the bank holiday & will look foward to catching up with you all then.
Please be warned that during the bank holiday week we have some shop fitters booked in so the shop will be closed for most if not all of the week (keep an eye on our facebook page for regular updates on this). We will however be digital again, so our mail order side should not be affected.
Happy Holidays!
Lorna
We got the shop back up and running last week and feel like we have finally entered the 20th Century (if not the 21st!) with hot running water on the premises and a heating system that should keep the chilblains at bay this winter. Various workmen are still lurking around doing smaller jobs, but we are planning to ignore them as much as possible and do not anticipate any further interruptions to the shop. September has got off to a flying start which we hope will continue through to the New Year. Last week we were able to put another face to a name when one of our customers drove up from South London to visit the shop. I'm not sure there are many people out there who will drive 3 hours to go to a bookshop then drive 3 hours straight back home again! Good on you Anne! We enjoyed meeting you (even if the dinner did get burnt because of the unplanned late opening!) In all seriousness it is always great to meet our 'mail-order' customers who call in while on holiday 'up North' or just on a day trip. We are quite happy to open earlier or stay open later if needs be - just phone and let us know your plans. We look forward to seeing you!Lorna
Books are being read very slowly at the moment - hence the lack of posts. I'm afraid there's just too much to do when you're staying on a farm in Wiltshire and the sun is shining...
Flaming June is just around the corner, and we've decided to get a head start on the holiday front. Yes, a good old fashioned family holiday, self catering in North Wales. Low on carbon emissions, although the air has been filled for some time now with 'when are we going to Wales?' Books are by no means off the agenda. No holiday would be complete without its special reading choices. Lorna and I have got a rucksack full between us - some new and potentially bloggable, some old but with great promise. Also, one for family reading with the boys. This is another in the Christian Focus 'Adventure' series - 'Himalayan Adventures'. I just hope it doesn't turn out as cold as the climate there, although it would be great to have Snowdonian mountains as spectacular!Just one point. Don't be put off and not place your orders in the next week, just because we're not at the Bookshop. We have measures in place to deal with things.Look out for details of another themed promotion to be released on our return, God willing.Keep England warm for us!Jeremy
